Since the original is a duet between Jim Reid and Hope Sandoval, the Pains version is a duet between Kip and Laura Carbone, a singer-songwriter from Germany appearing with Pains on their Europe tour in 2018. Laura and the Pains would go on to release an original song, The Flowers Beneath Your Feet, but their version of Sometimes Always hasn't been officially released.
